Dear Equator Net members, Colleagues, and Friends,

I am writing to inform you that I am leaving the Equator Initiative after
two and a half years to pursue new study and career opportunities. I will
truly miss the Equator Initiative team and the exceptional colleagues,
partners, and friends I had the pleasure of working with. I am thankful that
I was given the opportunity to learn from the successes of extraordinary
communities from around the world, and I know that this experience will
always accompany me in future endeavors! Thank you for having been part of
my very special Equator Initiative experience and I am looking forward to
staying in touch!

At the same time, I would like to give a warm welcome to the new
administrators of the Equator Net: Elspeth Halverson has been working with
the Equator Initiative for several years and is looking forward to carry on
and expand the role of the Equator Net. As you may know, Elspeth is working
on the development of a Community Web Portal together with the support of
EcoAgriculture Partners and diverse Equator Prize finalists. The Equator Net
will hopefully soon be hosted via this interactive and multilingual web
portal. In the meantime, Elspeth will continue the Equator Net in its
current form of a mailing list and she will be supported by the Equator
Initiative's programme assistants Kate Dillon who speaks French and Philip
McKissick who is fluent in English. Please do not hesitate to contact
Elspeth (elspeth.halverson@undp.org), Kate (kate.dillon@undp.org), and
Philipp (phillip.mckissick@undp.org) if you have questions or news that
might be of interest for other Equator Net members.

2008 CALL FOR GRANT APPLICATIONS FROM INDIGENOUS PEOPLES' ORGANIZATIONS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES

Dear Equator Net members,

The IFAD Indigenous Peoples Assistance Facility
invites applications from indigenous peoples' organizations and communities,
as well as organizations that work with them, for grants to fund projects,
innovative approaches and partnerships that promote the development of
indigenous peoples and help them fulfill their aspirations.

Grants range from US$10,000 to US$30,000. Applicants must meet specific requirements and their proposals should respond to the needs of indigenous peoples in any of IFAD's Member States . Activities likely to be considered for funding will build on indigenous culture, identity, knowledge, natural resources, intellectual property and human rights. Projects should improve indigenous peoples' access to decision-making processes, empower indigenous peoples to find solutions to the challenges they face and promote collaboration in the public and private sectors.

To apply for a grant, read the call for proposal and application guidelines .

Complete your application form and send it to IFAD at indigenouspeoples@ifad.org.

The closing date for applications is 30 June 2008 . IFAD will not accept applications after that date.

APPEL A Proposals for the OBTENTION GRANTS FOR ORGANIZATIONS AND INDIGENOUS

Dear Equator Net members,

The Assistance Facility for Indigenous Peoples of IFAD invites indigenous organizations and communities, and organizations that collaborate with them, solicit donations to finance a project, an innovative approach or a partnership to promote the development of indigenous peoples and to help them meet their aspirations.

donations between 10 000 and $ 30 000 USD will be awarded. Applicants must meet specific criteria and proposals must meet the needs of people Indigenous in one of IFAD Member States developing. The activities to be funded will promote the culture, identity, knowledge, natural resources, intellectual property rights and human rights of indigenous peoples.
